(Jessica McClain Series, #1)
Born the only female in an all male race, Jessica McClain isn’t just different—she’s feared.
After living under the radar for the last twenty-six years, Jessica is thrust unexpectedly into her first change, a full ten years late. She wakes up and finds she’s in the middle of a storm. Now that she’s become the only female full-blooded werewolf in town, the supernatural world is already clamoring to take a bite out of her and her new Pack must rise up and protect her.

“This is one hell of a crazy ride!
The beginning of a new series that will get you hooked from the first page!”

My Thoughts
After reading that crazy ride of a novella BLOODED I coudn’t wait to read this novel Full Blooded!
Full Blooded is the first (full) installment of the Jessica McClain Series what promises to be an exciting addition to the UFRW ” (Urban Fantasy Readers World), Amanda Carlson has given me a unique world full over werewolves and a kick-ass heroine that I like to be BFF’s with!
Full Blooded got me hooked from the first page. This story has everything an Urban Fantasy novel should have: lots of action, a kick ass heroine, lust, smoking hot men men, werewolves! This series has all the potential to grow in to a fantastic series.
I have to say that Jessica is my favorite in this story and I love to read as much as possible about her but there is more than our super ass-kicking heroine. Just as in the Novella James, Rourke, Callum and more of the pack where there also.
One minor: The ending of the book was a little bit of a disappointment.. I just kept tapping my iPad hoping that there would be more pages but nothing came up. The story ends in the middle of a new storyline. Damn!
I can’t wait! I am so excited… I am curious to what book 2 will bring me.
Maybe more different kind of shifters?
Cover:
I think the cover is brilliant. The cover girl looks just like I amagined Jessica would be.
This new series of Amanda Carlson has taken up a permanent on my keeper shelf and I look forward to reading many more of her books. I highly recommend this book to any paranormal or urban fan.
P.S. I would recommend to reads first the prequel novella Blooded before reading Full Blooded.

The main theme this month is Strong Heroines so this interview I had with Amanda is mostly about her main character Jessica.
Test test… is this mike on? .. And …. Action
Iris:
Hey Amanda, glad to have you here. Welcome. I really enjoyed reading Full Blooded. While reading your book I had a notebook with me so I could take notes for this interview. But once I started reading I was full in your BLOODED world and completely forgot about it. I still have a few questions for you when I finally came down my FULL BLOODED cloud!
Iris: Would you tell us about FULL BLOODED?
Amanda: Full Blooded introduces my heroine, the only female wolf born, into the world of supernaturals from the first pages. As Jessica learns what’s in store for her, so do the readers. It’s a fast-paced action UF, with hopefully something for everyone!
Iris: What sets your Jessica McClain Series apart from other urban fantasy series in this genre?
Amanda: Because Jessica is the only female, her birth strikes a fear into the Pack from the beginning. The wolves make her life extremely hard. I think my werewolf Pack dynamics are unique, as well as the interactions between her and her family. I’m not writing a dark UF. Jessica has strong ties with her brother and friends
, and has a very close bond with her father.
Iris: Can you tell us about Jessica, How you invented her? Where you walking in the supermaket between the eggs and milk when you thought “Yes, that’s the girl I am going to write a series about”? Because that never happens to me!
Amanda: FULL BLOODED started out like a movie clip playing in my head late one night. Jessica was shifting for the first time. I had her name but not much else. I had to find out what was happening, so I sat down to write. I wrote the first 200 pages very quickly. Then I let it sit and came back to finish. It was a labor of love.
Iris:What 3 words would you use to describe Jessica McClain?
Amanda: Strong, fun and snarky
Iris: Can you tell us something about Jessica McClain that we haven’t read in one of your books? (a tick, hidden tattoo, fav flavor, never shaves?)
Amanda: She loves cookies n’ cream ice cream
Iris: If you would have to ad an extra power/skill to Jessica’s character what would you choose?
Amanda: Jessica would love to fly! (But it will never happen. Wolves don’t fly.)
Iris: When I see your picture you look to me as a strong confident woman your kind of a kick-ass heroine yourself, writing these fantastic books. Can you name some things that you and Jessica have in common?
Amanda: Jessica doesn’t have many of my traits (if any at all), but she IS someone I’d love to sit down and have a drink with. I definitely wrote a heroine I’d like to be hang out with. She’d be the ultimate gal-pal.
Iris: I can’t wait to read Hot Blooded … I Almost don’t dare to ask but … do you have something special in mind for Jessica? Just a little peek 🙂
Amanda: Jessica is going on the journey of her life in HOT BLOODED. She’s out to conquer her foe, rescue her guy and figure out who and what she is.
Iris: well! …Thank you Amanda for answering these question! I do wish you all the best with the Blooded series, Most of the time I come with something witty at the end of a interview. Something to help the authors with. Have thought about alternatives for the next BLOODED book title but nothing funny came up. Eeh .. FAST BLOODED, BLED OUT …BLOODING HELL? …. Nope still nothing..sorry…
Amanda: Thanks so much for having me! I hope to see you again when HOT BLOODED releases in the spring. Future titles are not set in stone, but I’m throwing around RED BLOODED or PURE BLOODED
Does this story cover everything in the novella [that is, is this a more fully-fleshed out version of the novella]? Or is it a follow-up to the novella, the way Alpha & Omega [Patricia Briggs] is to its novella in an anthology?
Hi Tiaris,
The novella, BLOODED, is actually a prequel, set 7 years prior to the novel. It gives a good glimpse into Jessica’s character & motivations. You get to feel like what it was like to grow up in Pack — feared. The novel doesn’t cover any of the novella, nor does it backtrack. Both are fresh. Hope this helps!
Amanda Carlson
Absolutely does! Thanks much! And – dirty secret here – the AUTHOR reply makes it a LOT more likely for me to track down the novella =D When authors care enough – and interact with their readers – to answer questions about their work (and well + succinctly, at that) it means they’re invested in their worlds.
I’m very invested, LOL! So excited to release this into the wild. FYI: The novella is on sale for .99 everywhere right now, but my publisher is ending it 9/1. Then it will be $2.99 again! I hope you catch it on sale. If you decide to jump in, I hope you enjoy the series 🙂
Got it! Thanks for the pricing heads-up =) Grabbed it and pre-ordered Full Blooded. I expect to lose sleep soon =P
Awesome!!! After all this I SO hope you enjoy, LOLOL! Welcome to Pack :)))
