The Bloodhound Files, #1

The Bloodhound Files series is a very well done cross-over of two genres (detective/profiler and urban fantasy). The combination makes the story unique and fresh, and the characters make the story captivating. 

Jace must now hunt down a fellow human before he brings the entire planet to the brink of madness. Or she may never see her own world again.

Her job description is the “tracking and apprehension of mentally-fractured killers.” What this really means in FBI profiler Jace Valchek’s brave new world—one in which only one percent of the population is human—is that a woman’s work is never done. And real is getting stranger every day…

Jace has been ripped from her reality by David Cassius, the vampire head of the NSA. He knows that she’s the best there in the business, and David needs her help in solving a series of gruesome murders of vampires and werewolves. David’s world—one that also includes lycanthropes and golems—is one with little knowledge of mental illness.

Dying Bites (The Bloodhound Files, #1): 

Ok. The beginning is nice its fast and an original story. A little confusing, i couldn’t connect with the main characters. After half the book I found out that this book has no romantic storyline. I like a good paranormal book or series but, I do like it when there some kind of romance/ happy end. You will find nothing of romance through the first 4 books! (3 stars)

After reading 15.0% A funny Quote: ““What happens if I try to run?” I ask as the doors close. “I’ll stop you.” “You don’t look too quick.” “You’d be surprised.” “I hate surprises.” “Then don’t run.” After reading 53.0% of book 1:  “How to ruin a book: skip the complete bed scene. I hate the line. The next morning. Quote: how sensitive his sense of smell actually is, and just what it can tell him. He lets me know. [here was supposed to be the bed scene, but it was NOT] A rice wine and Urthbone hangover is not an experience I would recommend to anyone. But then, neither is waking up next to someone you don’t really remember going to bed with.”

Death Blows (The Bloodhound Files #2):

The end of book 1 was kind of OK. I really liked the jokes of Jace. Really looking forward to more interaction between charlie and Jace. Hopeful for some love between Cassius and Jace. However this book was one big information dump it really ruined the story and that is sad because I think there was a lot of research in this book. (3 stars)

Killing Rocks (The Bloodhound Files #3):
This was the worst book of the series. Charlie is in some kind of spell. So the biggest plus of the story I gone. No jokes between Charlie and Jace in this one. Skipped 30% A lot of lines had nothing to do with the story. If Jace has nothing important to say, maybe she just has to shut up! (2 stars)

Better Off Undead (The Bloodhound Files, #4):
*sighs* I don’t recall Jace being this damn annoying. Some of her ranting is such a waste of word space and I begin to get tired of her jokes and comments on the most illogical moments! Thank god Charlie’s back! You can easily read this book together with another one. You can stop reading at any time you won’t miss a thing! Maybe when I utterly stop caring about the main characters it’s time to put a series down….(3 stars)

Back from the Undead (The Bloodhound Files #5)

So I ended with book said: “I love you” and some sloppy lovemaking on the couch in his office. (not really something to look forward when you wished for some romantice the last 5,  I would get to read more about Cassius and Jane, but alas … there was little of Cassius. He didn’t showed up again until the end, barring Jace’s dreams. When Cassius finally did, the ending was a cliffhanger. Other that I missed Cassius I also missed all the other side-kicks of the series. There were very few scenes of Gretchen, Anna and Eisfanger. But most of all I missed Jace’s ever loyal and snappy golem Charlie, who pulled me through this series. 🙂 It was just all about Jace and her case and the evil villians. (3 stars).

In Conclusion
Many things did work for me, the jokes, action, the other characters, villains. However, I wish the ending of each book was more… just more. I missed the world building, the feelings of the characters and most of all I mist a romantic storyline. It is all so flat and grey. I wish the writing was happier and the ending of book 5 not a cliffhanger. I have to think about reading book 6! This is just the opinion of one woman! Find out yourself. What do you think!
