Q: So Sophronia how do you feel about your fans reading about your adventures?

I’m perfectly comfortable with this since I never give away any more information than I absolutely have to. Being a telepath makes you appreciate privacy and understand the value of keeping secrets; and I have plenty of those.

Q: Why where you touring America anyway?

My husband used to live there when he was younger and we had always intended to visit the country on my 50^th birthday. It was a present to myself to remind me of happier times and a kind of pilgrimage too.

Q: What is your favorite part from the story you have told your author so far?

Helping Charlie rescue Macie. I really am very fond of them both. Charlie has so much potential and I know what it’s like to have no one to explain things to you when you’re young. And Macie intrigues me. I really would like to know how come she can detect vampires even though she’s not a proper witch.

Q: If you and the vampire would go on a date, where would it be and why?

I can’t help thinking we’re both a bit too old for that kind of thing; but he has got lots of money and he likes throwing it about, so I’d definitely be happy for him to take me somewhere exotic. It would have to be at night obviously and I’ve always wanted to see the Northern Lights, so I think a trip anywhere in the Arctic would be a good choice.

Q:  What else would you like to tell us? Will we be reading about you in the future?

Hagen and I have lots of unfinished business. I need him to help me find Billy so no more young witches get killed and I also want to make sure Charlie gets to be with Ethan. I’ve a feeling this means he’s going to find more of my secrets than I want him to know, but you can’t make an omelet without breaking eggs and besides, when he’s not being obnoxiously arrogant, he does make me laugh.

About the Author :

I live in the UK with my husband, two sons, two cats and a dog. I am a French and English teacher which I love and it pays the bills, but I got hooked on writing when I entered a short story competition at the age of eighteen and wrote of my own free will without a homework deadline looming. I’ve been waiting for the impulse to wear off ever since…

I wrote this story when I was coming up to my 50th and feeling a bit sorry for myself. I love the vampire/paranormal genre – Buffy and Sookie in particular – but there comes a time when you just can’t identify with gorgeous, pert twenty-somethings any more and it seems a little undignified to even want to. I also love Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels about Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg – two of the wiliest crones in the business – but wanted something a little more glamorous and contemporary; I can only take so much stuff with the frogs and the cauldrons. When it comes to supernatural powers I’ve always preferred Julian May’s metapsychics in the Saga of the Exiles, so that’s how Sophronia was created. Hagen was easy.

Obviously heroes can’t be murderers, but I wanted a vampire who wasn’t wracked with guilt over his diet and who seemed to be having fun being an immortal. I hope people will enjoy reading SOPHRONIA AND THE VAMPIRE as much as I enjoyed writing it.
