Thank you Paranormal Cravings for being part of my tour today. Since the release of Beyond The Edge, I’ve been describing it as a sequel to both the On The Edge series and the Out of the Box series, but really these two series have been entwined for a long time.
But let me go back to the beginning.
When I wrote CheckMate, my first novel, I set a very important scene in a club where humans and vampires met freely, and out of nowhere I added a sentence about the owner of the club living with two vampires. That throwaway sentence survived the edits and bugged me for a few months until I gave in and wrote On The Edge, the short story that told how the club’s owners – Brett and his vampire lover Lisa – first welcomed Leo, another vampire friend of Lisa, into their bed.
Soon after, when I needed a setting for a short erotica story featuring the vampire Anando and his new human lover Virginia, it only felt logical to have them meet at the club. One short story, Out of the Box, turned into two, then more, each centered on a new sexual game and most of them starting or taking place at some point in the club. Even a short interlude freebie, Dancing, took place on the premises and featured a cameo by Lisa.
At the same time, I went back and gave a sequel to On The Edge. I’d shown how the three characters came together for one night, but what about the morning after? What would happen then? Would they be able to make things work or would the influence of Leo and Lisa’s Sire prove too much of an obstacle? That story became the novella Over The Edge.
When I reached the point in the Out of the Box series when I wanted Anando to suggest a threesome to Virginia, I immediately thought of Leo. After all, he, Brett and Lisa were all fine with extra-curricular adventures… Or so I thought until I wrote Out of the Box 6. Suddenly, Brett found his way into the story and demanded to vet Virginia and Anando, so that it was only with his blessing that Leo accompanied them home. Virginia was intrigued by the arrangement, and so was I! I needed to figure out how it had come to be, and so I went back to Brett, Leo and Lisa, and discovered how she had pushed them into getting this very special arrangement – this became Walking The Edge.
As I wrapped up the Out of the Box series, Leo and Lisa had more small cameos, helping Virginia and Anando come together.
At that point, I moved on to another series, thinking that my threesome and couple would enjoy their HEAs in peace. Of course, that would have been too easy… Halfway through my new series, Brett demanded to have his own installment, and in Fifth Vision of Destiny he crossed another step in his relationship with Leo and Lisa, offering each of them rings as symbols of his love.
Not to be left behind, Virginia and Anando started nagging me, too (and a few readers insisted as well…) so that I ended up writing a sequel to Out of the Box. Living Out of the Box, like the original series, chronicles games, old and new, as Virginia and Anando explore new levels of sensuality. They also visit On The Edge again, and spend a night and day with Leo, Lisa and Brett.
This time, I thought, this was it. I was done with both series. I’d write some flash fiction, but nothing longer than a few hundred words.
You see where this is going, don’t you? Go ahead, laugh at me.
One of these flash fiction pieces made me wonder how Brett and Lisa had met. In the first story, they say they’ve been together for a year… but how did they come together and decide to open a club as partners? I had to know, so I wrote a prequel to On The Edge, titled Before The Edge and showing how Brett and Lisa met and developed an open relationship that later allowed Leo to find his place with them.
Another such flash fiction showed Virginia pregnant, and of course I had to know how that happened; that’s how my newest release, Beyond The Edge, came to be (I described the process in more details earlier in the book tour), and with Brett as the ‘accidental’ father, the story brought again the threesome and couple together, first as lovers, and later as friends.
Am I done with them? Probably not. With the new developments that take place in Beyond The Edge, I’m already thinking of what comes next, and how relationships will need to change, adapt and deepen. I’m already in the middle of two other series, so we’ll see how long it takes before I cave in and carve some time out to write this new installment…

Blurb: As Brett Andrews, owner of the famous club On The Edge, reaches the big ‘four-O,’ he has one request and one question for his two vampire lovers, Leo and Lisa: he doesn’t want them to organize any sort of celebration for him – but he does want to know why neither of them has ever mentioned the possibility of turning him into a vampire.
The question finds an answer, and the three of them share a promise for the year to come. His request, on the other hand, is doomed from the start as they already have plans for the big day: they have a gift for him to match presents he offered each of them, and the party they planned with help from a couple of friends promises to be something special.
Vampire Anando and his human lover Virginia met at On The Edge. They are friends and occasional lovers of Leo, Brett and Lisa. When asked, they gladly accept to host the big-bash birthday party – and the private after-party, too. A good time is had by all, but the last gift is only revealed a few weeks later, to be delivered after nine months.
With both humans in love with vampires, neither expected a child in their future. As for the vampires, they knew for a fact that they’d never become parents. For all five, once the first shock has passed, decisions have to be made. Will this new adventure strengthen bonds of love and friendship, or will it tear lives apart?
