Kenya Wright is for me a new author but never less one I want to read more from. Especially after reading this teaser of a book Escape.
Escape is a thrilling first installment of the Vampire King Trilogy. full with action, hot scenes and paranormal beings like chosen ones’ with special blood and of course the vampires. With its original illustrated pictures every few chapters a nice chance.
This book is about a domina named Brie who’s only purpose in life is to birth vampire children for the Quiet King. After a search trough her village she volunteered to prevent they would take children. And there she was alone with the other domina’s in the big castle. Any human woman with the domina gene spent their lives in the castle under strict rules and the guards’ watchful eyes.
Brie has been a domina for only two years but after witnessing the slaughter of babies, she plans to escape with the help of two high-placed woman’s in the castle. Thought their help she comes in contact with Samuel and his friend, a vampire known for aiding many out of slavery. Even with his one and only ppolicy that he won’t help dominas he is no match for Brie when he smells her blood. Brie is forced to lie about who she is. They are drawn to each other, their lust is overwhelming and Samuel faces an all-consuming hunger for Brie he can’t escape.
Escape is an intriguing read. There where some parts that I thought! heh?? Am I reading this wrong or is this not right. For instance pag. 29 Samuel asked Bries her name… Just 2 or three pages before that it was already mentioned by his sidekick with the feisty wife. And there is the ending … I can’t understand how Brie could have left her children and even after two years finding them still leaving them behind with her ex-loving family.. It broke my heart. And also left a little of a bad taste in my mouth. I keep thinking what kind of woman can leave her only children behind after only two years that I completely forgot the rest of the story. Sorry Samuel is absolutely not worth that! But it is a trilogy so I can only hope it will end in a good way. And that this was helluva tease to end this thrilling book.
With its fast paced scenes a captivating read, one I like to recommend if you like Paranormal Romances with an Erotic touch.
