Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson #7) by Patricia Briggs
Mercy Thompson returns in the seventh novel of this fantastic Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs.
I was really looking forward to read Frost Burned after finishing River Marked (Mercy Thompson #6) I couldn’t wait to start no.7. River Marked was al little off mark because f the missing tension in the book and the lack of romance. I’m afraid to say that also Frost Burned is a little on the same side. The intimacy between Mercy and Adam is turned up a little but I still missed the pack-tension.
[quote]“Do they always flirt with biblical quotes?” Asil asked TadIn long-suffering tones, Tad said, “They can flirt with the periodic table or a restaurant menu. We’ve learned to live with it. Get a room you guys.”

In Frost Burned Mercy Thompson’s life has undergone a seismic change. Now she is the mate of the local pack master, Adam Hauptman. everything seems to be settled down. She has become kind of surrogate mom for Adam’s daughter Jesse. Patricia Briggs have done a great job on describing the relationship between Jesse and Mercy. The two of them really are grown in a mother / daughter relation. But maybe things got a little to quite in pack-life because when they leave their guard down something happens.
After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse find out they can’t reach anybody. Turns out that hey’ve all been abducted. And here begins the real story!
Through their mating bond, Marcy feels and see that Adam is angry, in pain and being held in a sort of cage. Mercy gets help from an unexpected corner, one of the members from her old pack.
[quote]“Ben rubbed his muzzle over Kyle’s shoulder in a way that I think was supposed to be reassuring. Kyle sucked in a breath. Either it hurt, or the reminder that the werewolf was big enough to rub his shoulder without much effort wasn’t exactly reassuring.“Ben, when was the last time you brushed your teeth?” asked Kyle.
Or else Ben’s breath was really bad.”

It was a little disappointing that the whole books was only about the big search of the missing pack members with as highlight the intimate bond between Mercy and Adam. It almost feels if this book is like the quiet before the storm. I think Patricia is holding back on us and that she going to blow us out of our seats with Mercy Thompson no.8 Night Broken (expected publication date: 2014) !! I can’t wait. It is already on my to read list.
